Head lice are tiny wingless parasitic insects that remain on a person’s head and feed on small amounts of blood from that person. Although the head louse are not life threateningly dangerous they can be downright annoying. They occur usually in children between three to twelve years of age and are a bane to many parents causing them to suffer many sleepless nights. These lice usually bite the scalp to draw blood which may cause itching. Repeated scratching of itches may cause skin inflammation and sometimes even infection. Lice may not spread any kind of disease but they are contagious.

Proper care should be taken if a person is infected with head lice. As they can spread through hair accessories like combs, clips, towels and clothes, they should be maintained separately for infected person. Also bed sheets and bedspreads must be changed and washed daily to prevent head lice from spreading. Tiny brown or yellow dots in hair which are nothing but nits may also indicate the presence of headlice. Several home remedies can be used to get rid of these terrible parasites without suffering from any side effects.

Aloe-Vera paste should be applied to the scalp and left aside for two hours before shampooing to get best results. A mixture of two to three cups of egg yolk, 2-3 tbsp vinegar and equal amounts of lemon juice applied to the scalp and allowed to dry for 30 minutes can do the trick. Applying olive oil on hair and covering it with a plastic cover proves effective in killing it. Paste of ten to twenty almonds mixed with 4 spoons of lemon juice applied to dry for 2 hours also helps to get rid of head lice. Neem leaves ground into a fine paste, applied to the scalp is also commonly used as a cure for head lice.

Head lice are nasty little parasites that live on a human host for around 30 days and suck of blood for their survival. People having head lice are prone to itching. They have been there since the very beginning of man-kind and cannot live away from the host for more than 24 hours. They can spread through contact with the persons having head lice. Often using the same head accessories like hats, combs, helmets and towels can cause the head lice to spread. It should be noted that head lice do not spread through pets as they cannot live on them.

There are various ways to get rid of head lice but using natural methods have proven to be effective and are free of harmful chemicals. One such way is to spread castor oil on the hair, cover it with shower cap and rinse well with shampoo in the morning. Although several washings may be required, saturating hair with petroleum jelly overnight produces wonderful results. Mayonnaise is also used in the similar way to get rid of head lice which is easier to rinse in the morning than petroleum jelly and is known to work just as effectively.

Some people tried washing hair twice a day and rinsing with vinegar regularly with good results although the eggs have to be separately picked. A comb dipped in vinegar helps in removing the eggs effectively and combing in the night under artificial lights have given better results. An essential oil mix made by adding five drops each of lavender oil, eucalyptus oil, rosemary, peppermint and tea tree oils when applied to the hair as a rinse and combing the hair after the rinse have proven to be effective to get rid of head lice. Maintaining cleanliness at school and home is necessary to prevent the head lice from reoccurring.

Tiny, black parasites commonly found on a person’s scalp are known as head lice. There are several major causes of head lice developing on a person. Head lice usually spread from one person to another through direct head to head contact. Usage of same towels, combs, hair accessories may also be a means for spreading of head lice. A person living in close quarters with the infected person may also get infected with head lice. Contact with contaminated belongings like pillows, pillow covers, bedspreads and bed sheets are also yet another cause. Often school children get infected with head lice because of their prolonged exposure to contaminated environment. Untidy scalp is also one of the causes of head lice.

Intensive itching is a standard symptom of head lice. Sometimes lice eggs or lice can be found on the hair or clothing of the infected person. Severe case of head lice is characterized by the swelling of lymph nodes and presence of tiny, red bumps on the scalp and often makes a person wonder “how to get rid of head lice?”

Well here is the answer! According to traditional Indian methods neem leaves paste is to be applied to the scalp and left on for say 20 minutes. Tea tree oil is also known to do the trick if applied to the scalp and left on for 40 minutes or if a few drops are added to the shampoo before hair wash. Since chemicals used to eradicate head lice may cause side effects it is better to go for home remedies. Onion paste can also be applied to the scalp for 3 hours for an effective result.

Though there are several ways to control head lice, it is essential to maintain cleanliness of scalp by washing hair regularly and keeping our surroundings clean to get better results.

Licenex™ is an anti-lice product that is considered to be effective against head lice. The anti-lice shampoo offers complete eradication of the infestation within a very short period. In most cases, you can get rid of all the lice and nits after a couple of uses.

Lice infestation, or pediculosis, has significantly increased in the past few years. The infestation is commonest amongst school children, especially those with long hair. Pediculosis is contagious only through prolonged and close contact. Although lice can hardly survive away from the scalp, sharing the same bed can result in lice transmission. Lice bite the scalp which predisposes to secondary bacterial infection. Heavy and repeated lice infestation often affects the nature and healthiness of the hair. Pediculosis is also responsible for the transmission of three vector borne diseases; typhus, trench fever and scrub typhus.

Licenex™ is a powerful anti-lice shampoo that is recommended by many clinicians. It contains a surfactant blend of both anionic and non-anionic chemicals which aid in loosening the nits, killing the lice and cleaning the scalp to avoid superadded bacterial infection. Moreover, Licenex™ contains peppermint oil which is known for its ability to repel head lice. Enzymes also formulated in this anti-lice shampoo can disintegrate the exoskeleton of head lice, thus killing them. Licenex™ doesn’t contain pediculicides. Although pediculicides can kill lice, most of them are toxic to the human body and mustn’t be used especially on children.

Licenex™ can easily and effectively be used to eradicate head lice. The steps are quite simple and easy; simply wet the hair, apply it, lather thoroughly and rinse. However, it is sometimes necessary to use a nit comb to perfectly remove nits that are sticky.
